Gum Disease (Periodontal disease) is an infection of the gums, bone, and periodontal ligament (attachment fibers that support the teeth and help hold them in). It is estimated that approximately 90% of the population is infected with gum disease. Many people are unaware they have the disease because it is usually painless and silent until its advanced stages.
SIGNS OF GUM DISEASE
Wisdom Teeth are usually the last teeth to come into place in your mouth. They are also the least likely to be useful. In many cases, wisdom teeth do not erupt until late adolescence or early adulthood. Sometimes, wisdom teeth do not erupt into place at all. In such cases, they are said to be "impacted", which means they are trapped in the jawbone and/or gum tissue. Since wisdom teeth are rarely functional, and can do more harm than good, it is often recommended that they be removed.
We are happy to provide all treatment options regarding your wisdom teeth. If removal is recommended, our experienced staff will make the procedure as comfortable as possible for you.
TMJ is a chronic illness that affects many people. TMJ is short for Temporomandibular Joints, the two joints that connect your jaw to your head. The symptoms of TMJ are many and varied. Some common symptoms include headaches, dizziness, numbness in fingers and arms, and difficulty swallowing. Many people also experience locking of the jaw, jaw movement limitations, and clicking or grinding sound in the jaw joints. TMJ may cause neck, shoulder or back pain, facial pain, and pain behind eyes, or unexplained loosening of teeth. Earaches, ear stuffiness or ringing, and pain or soreness in and around the jaw joints can also indicate TMJ.
After this diagnostic information is gathered we can determine the best course of treatment for your individual needs.
