Born in Detroit in 1953, Dr. Lane found his way to Fuquay-Varina in high school, where Southern charm and hospitality quickly made it home — and where he would later put down roots for good.
He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1976, then continued to the UNC School of Dentistry, earning his DDS in 1980.
Two years later, in 1982, he opened the very first Lane & Associates practice in Fuquay-Varina — a single chair built on the belief that patients always come first.
From that first office, Lane & Associates has grown to more than 50 practices across North Carolina. Dr. Lane still leads as Chairman of the Board and personally mentors the team of roughly 80 doctors.
In 2021, that reputation for excellence made Lane & Associates the official team dentist of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
Married to his wife Phyllis for more than 45 years, Dr. Lane is a devoted father of two daughters and grandfather of four. When he isn’t making people smile, you’ll usually find him doting on animals — Diet Rite in hand.
