Can I get a temporary tooth while waiting for a dental implant?
The process of receiving a dental implant is a two step process, and typically requires two procedures. During the first procedure, our oral surgeon drills a small hole into the jawbone. They insert the base of the implant into this hole, and then cover it with the gum and allow it to heal. There is then a period where the patient waits for this area to heal before proceeding with the second surgery. During this second surgery the oral surgeon fits the connector onto the base of the implant, and then attaches the crown to the connector. Many people want to know about their options for a temporary tooth between these two procedures, while they wait to receive their dental implant. If the tooth being installed is in the back of the mouth, it is not as much of a concern as few can see the area.
