Dr. Edward Mao grew up in the Cary/Raleigh area before attending Duke University for his undergraduate studies. He moved to Philadelphia in 2015 to attend the University of Pennsylvania’s dental school, from which he graduated in 2019. While in Philadelphia, he met his wife, Anne, and they got married in 2020. They welcomed their daughter Ellie in 2022. Dr. Mao and his family decided to move back to the South to be closer to family. After Anne completed her fellowship at UPenn, they moved back to the Raleigh/Durham area, where Anne became a doctor at Duke Primary Care, and Dr. Mao joined Lane and Associates.

Outside of work, Dr. Mao loves spending time with his family and taking advantage of the nature that North Carolina has to offer. The family enjoys hiking and exploring parks with their dog, Dumpling. Dr. Mao is also a big Duke Football and Basketball fan and follows the Philadelphia professional sports teams as well.
