What are Veneers?

To go into greater detail, veneers are a thin porcelain covering that gets bonded to your tooth. The tooth or teeth getting veneers will be prepped before placement, and each veneer is made custom to your smile so you can enjoy a natural finish that blends seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.

Did you know you can use veneers to bypass braces or crowns? They can also be used to correct chips, gaps in alignment, and tooth fractures.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

Some patients get a veneer on one tooth to correct damage, while others get veneers on many to correct aesthetics or multiple cracks or chips. Veneers are generally priced by tooth, so the cost per procedure varies by patient. Don’t let the cost alone keep you from getting the smile of your dreams. Lane & Associates is in network with many different insurance providers and we are happy to work with self-pay patients to create individual payment plans.

If you’re interested in getting a quote, a dentist will be able to conduct a full exam and determine what your unique estimate would be. If you have questions about payment plans or would like to schedule an appointment, contact us online today.

How Long Does it Take to Get Veneers?

Once you and your dentist have determined veneers are the right solution for your needs, a mold will be made of your mouth and your dentist will remove a layer of enamel from your teeth. This makes space for the veneer to adhere. An impression of your tooth or teeth will then be sent off to a lab where your custom veneers will be made, which can take between two and four weeks.

When ready, you will come back to see your dentist for the final appointment. Your veneers will be placed on your teeth, and your dentist will show you the shape and color before bonding it to your tooth. The bonding process involves cleaning the tooth, prepping it, and placing the veneer with a special dental cement.

Overall, the entire process can take two to three visits over the course of several weeks. Your dentist may also ask you to return for a follow-up appointment after your veneers have been placed.

Are Veneers Painful?

After getting veneers, patients may experience gum sensitivity or bonding sensitivity, which will feel like biting into something cold and experiencing pain immediately after. This discomfort should not last more than a few days, and you can always ask your dentist about pain management techniques and solutions. Some patients worry that veneers will ruin their teeth but don’t worry, this is not the case! You will love your new smile.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

On average, veneers will last ten to twenty years when properly taken care of. With regular brushing and flossing and bi-annual check-ups, your veneers will keep your smile shining for years to come.

Veneers should be replaced before any significant wear and tear occurs, as this can lead to cavities. Your dentist will keep you updated about the timeline for this, if it is necessary at all.

Why Should I Get Veneers?

If you’ve been hiding your smile due to cracked teeth, misalignment, or discoloration, veneers offer a natural appearance that matches the color and shape of surrounding teeth. It’s custom-made to fit your smile, taking into account your bone structure and other factors to provide a perfect solution! They are also stain resistant and will keep you smiling for the years and big moments to come.

Are Porcelain Veneers Covered by Insurance?

Porcelain veneers are a great option for those looking to craft their dream smile. Patients come to us for veneers for a variety of reasons. Perhaps your teeth are chipped, crowded, or discolored. Whatever the reason, we are honored that you are choosing to trust us with your new pearly whites. At Lane & Associates, our cosmetic dentists are ready to give you the smile you have been dreaming of! We are often asked by patients if porcelain veneers are covered by insurance. The answer to this question depends on your insurance provider and the amount of coverage you have. Contact our team to speak to us about if your insurance provider covers porcelain veneers.

What Are Press-On Veneers?

If you’ve been thinking of ways to perfect your smile, you may have come across press-on or snap-on veneers. These solutions claim to offer a cost effective solution to correcting any misalignment or discoloration in your smile. However, it pays to do your research, so we’re glad you’re here! While press-on veneers may seem like a good option, there are some things to consider before you opt for this dental solution.

Traditional veneers are custom made for each individual tooth, and highly trained teams of technicians work to perfectly match the color to your surrounding teeth. Press-on veneers are more like a mouthguard that can be taken in and out. True veneers take into account your unique facial features. This means that every tooth is custom built to give you the most natural looking finish possible while providing a reliable and comfortable solution to any dental issues you may have. Press-on veneers are a temporary fix that will not resolve any pre-existing dental issues.

Can Coffee Stain Porcelain Veneers?

The good news is that no, coffee and tea do not stain porcelain veneers the same way that they can potentially stain normal teeth.

This is thanks to the difference between the material used to make veneers and your naturally occuring tooth enamel. Tooth enamel is porous, and therefore vulnerable to staining by colored liquids like coffee and sweet tea. However, the porcelain material used to make porcelain veneers is not porous, and therefore is much more resistant to staining. Over time after years of action, it is possible to see some staining around the corners of the veneers where they meet the tooth enamel, but this is not frequent and hardly noticeable. You can drink coffee and sweet tea to your heart’s content without fear of staining your veneers or damaging your new smile!
