Dr. Sonya Choi

D.D.S.

Dr. Choi was born in Texas, but spent most of her childhood living in Taiwan and Macao (a Portuguese colony before handed over to China). Dr. Choi loves food and noticed that her grandparents were only able to have soft diet due to her dental conditions, and thus Dr. Choi developed an interest in dentistry, with the goal to help people like her grandparents to be able to have any food they like. In 2010 Dr. Choi moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and developed an interest in mathematics during her first year in college, and ended up getting her Bachelor degree with dual major in Mathematics and Statistics with the University of Michigan in 2014. After that, Dr. Choi decided to continue to pursue dentistry as her career, and received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dr. Choi furthered her studies at the A.T. Still University residency program in Arizona.

Dr. Choi then stayed in Phoenix, Arizona to practice dentistry, until she could not bear with the summer heat anymore and decided to move to Raleigh-Durham area where her family and friends are. Dr. Choi has adopted a cat named Oreo, and is currently taking care of her sister’s cat Pepper until her sister finishes school. When Dr. Choi is off duty, she enjoys board games (especially werewolf), trying out different restaurants, and hanging out with her friends and family.
